About Simone Goldberg

Simone Goldberg is a Ph.D. student in the Clinical Psychology program at the University of British Columbia (UBC). She holds a Master’s degree from UBC and has completed clinical practica through the UBC Psychology Clinic. Simone has training in evidence-based treatments, including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), for a range of concerns such as depression, anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and difficulties related to stress and life transitions.

At Changeways Clinic, Simone provides CBT for individuals experiencing symptoms of:

• Academic stress

• Adjustment related difficulties/managing life transitions

• Anxiety-related challenges, including social anxiety, worry, and/or panic symptoms

• Depression

• Imposter related symptoms (career, professional or academic related)

• Obsessions & compulsions (OCD)

• Phobias

• Stress and chronic stress

Simone’s clinical work is supervised by Registered Psychologist Dr. Trisha Kivisalu.

Simone’s approach to therapy is collaborative and evidence based. She aims to help clients make sustainable changes that are aligned with their goals as well as to inform clients of effective interventions leading to improvement in overall well-being.

Research

Simone’s research examines the role of cognitive-affective processes (e.g., attention) in promoting and interfering with sexual function (i.e., arousal, desire, orgasm, pain). In particular, her dissertation work focuses on better understanding sexual function among individuals with ADHD. To date, she have published 6 peer-reviewed papers and has presented her work at local (e.g., the UBC Sexual Health Networking Event) and international conferences (e.g., International Academy of Sex Research).

Practicum Experience

Simone has completed clinical practica in both cognitive-behavioural and psychodynamic modalities, providing evidence-based treatment for anxiety, depression, OCD and related concerns. She has also completed a research-based CBT practicum focused on supporting sexual and relational well-being through psychoeducation in new parent couples.

Simone is also a Teaching Assistant in the Department of Psychology at the University of British Columbia. As a result, she is unable to provide therapy services to UBC Psychology course or programs students.
