Dr. Mair Cayley
My approach to therapy is authentic, compassionate and collaborative.
I will work with you in support of your goals. I use cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) as a framework for treatment and integrate other treatments (mindfulness, DBT, sensorimotor) depending on the needs and goals of my clients. I will help you to learn new tools and strategies to manage your concerns and mental health with the aim of improving your quality of life. I am sensitive to intersecting identities, aware of systemic oppression and am inclusive of diversity in my therapy practice.
I provide individual therapy for depression, anxiety, trauma (historical or current), stress, life transitions and interpersonal conflict. I have expertise in working with people who belong to LGBTQ+ communities, and have extensive experience working with concerns relating to gender diversity (i.e., coming out as trans, non-binary genders, stress of medical and/or social transition).
I received my PhD in Counselling Psychology from UBC, and am registered psychologist in BC. I completed my internship at UBC Counselling Services and have experience and competency working with post-secondary populations. I am also a sessional instructor in the Counselling Psychology program at UBC.
I am a Registered Psychologist in the province of British Columbia.
