Dr Anne Howson

ahowson

Dr Howson is a psychologist registered in British Columbia. She provides individual cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) and mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) for depression, the anxiety disorders, and psychosis. Additional areas of interest and expertise include the provision of services to lesbian and gay clients, and the integration of motivational enhancement therapy and dialectical behaviour therapy skills training in the treatment of concurrent disorders (addictions and mental health).

She works collaboratively with clients to achieve treatment goals they have set for themselves. The use of evidence-based psychological treatment strategies helps clients to become more knowledgeable about the factors that contribute to their difficulties i.e. unhelpful attitudes, thoughts, and behaviours. By learning and applying new, more adaptive skills, and building on their personal strengths, clients are able to effect positive change in their lives.

In addition to Changeways Clinic, Dr Howson is the psychologist on the Concurrent Disorders Intervention Unit (CDIU) at Vancouver General Hospital, where she also trains and supervises clinical psychology practicum students and residents.

Dr Howson’s voicemail is at our clinic’s second telephone number, 604 872 0450.
